Our 73rd “Follow them Friday” features Reine from de groene prinses who blogs in Dutch.
When did you start blogging?
In april 2010, because I wanted to answer the question that a lot of people had been asking since I ‘d become a vegetarian: ‘So you are a vegetarian? What do you eat?!’
How did you decide on the name of your blog?
The name just popped up in my head and it seemed perfect to me. After all I wanted to be a ‘kitchen princess’ with a ‘green’ twist to it.
What was the title of your first ever blog post?
‘Havercake met frambozen en een kruimellaagje’: a cake with oats and raspberries. If I would make him today, I would probably try to swap the sugar and butter for more healthy alternatives.
Do you prefer eating in or eating out?
I really can’t choose, because I love both. In Antwerp it’s not very easy to find good vegetarian food, so here I prefer my own cooked food, I guess. But when we are abroad, I simply love discovering new vegetarian restaurants.
What is your favourite dish to share?
Some very good hummus, a few colourful salads and a hunk of fresh baked bread.
What is your favourite comfort food?
I’m a bit of a pasta addict. And I can’t live without dark chocolate (at least 70%).
What is your favourite dessert?
I try to reduce the amount of sugar I eat, but every now and then I indulge in sumptuous desserts. Chocolate moelleux paired with blood orange sorbet is heaven to me!
How do you spend your time when you’re not blogging?
I’m a writer of children’s books and poetry. So even when I’m not blogging, I’m still writing. In my free time I love to travel, cook, read and listen to music.
Who are your favourite food bloggers?
www.greenkitchenstories.com, www.loveandlemons.com, www.mynewroots.org, www.101cookbooks.com
Who are your favourite non-food bloggers?
Actually I don’t follow a lot of non-food blogs, although I have one myself: www.volvanzinnen.be 😉
