Our 33rd “Follow them Friday” features Els of Njamelicious blogging in Dutch & English.
When did you start blogging?
The blog originated from 2011 when I was starting up my business. My sister Iris introduced me into blogging and we started our own blog. “Njamelicious” became the name of my business and the blog was renamed “the yummyblogsisters” when we made our first cookbook.
Now Iris has her own blog “Swonderful” and I’m back at Njamelicious.
How did you decide on the name of your blog?
“Njamelicious” just came into my mind thinking of njammy yummy food * delicious combined. Like pronouncing the two words you love most together at the same time.
What was the title of your first ever blog post?
Take it easy 🙂
Do you prefer eating in or eating out?
Both – but being a chef I love it when I am not cooking (hint hint)
What is your favourite dish to share?
Indian
What is your favourite comfort food?
Cheese! Definitely.
How do you like your eggs in the morning?
Scrambled eggs with a lot of fresh herbs or oeuf en cocotte with spinach.
Was there a particular dish that got you into cooking?
When I was 15 I decided that I no longer wanted to eat meat – my mum was ok with me becoming a vegetarian on one condition ..
What has been your biggest recipe failure?
I never use or follow recipes – so experimenting all the time, sometimes failures turn out to be the best recipes in the end
What is your earliest food memory?
Karnemelk (buttermilk) and brown sugar came with a story every day at 4. (and me holding a spoon to taste the sugar)
What are the three things you always have in your freezer?
My freezer is tiny, but I make my own chutneys, pickles, compotes that don’t need a freezer and my pantry is over-stuffed
How do you spend your time when you’re not blogging?
Looking after my 2 boys 🙂
Who are your favourite food bloggers?
My sister, Iris, plus Apolina, Sylvain and Ananda (Asian inspired)
